Canoe Hire & River Facilities

River activities on the Wye

As a historic riverside pub, The Hope & Anchor has long been a key part of the Wye river community and we mean to uphold that tradition. Ample food, drink & accommodation offerings make The Hope & Anchor an ideal stop off point for rivergoers whether its for a quick drink, bite to eat or an overnight stay. Finally, for those looking to sample the delights of the river, canoeing and paddle boarding is available straight from our jetty.

As a historic riverside pub, The Hope & Anchor has long been a key part of the Wye river community and we mean to uphold that tradition. Our breakfast, lunch & dinner service and 12 newly renovated rooms make the The Hope & Anchor an ideal stop off point for rivergoers whether its for a quick drink, bite to eat or an overnight stay. With river-goers in mind, we have developed an outside toilet block with shower and a private launch, the latter of which is £5 for non-residents.

We’re excited to announce that we have partnered up with Hereford Canoe Hire to offer a Paddle About – a 1 hour taster session with canoes launched right off our jetty! The price is £30 for 1 hour, and the boats can be shared between two adults, plus up to 2 children. The Paddle About will be available Saturdays and Sundays from June, and seven days a week during the summer holidays, between 11am and 5pm – Weather and River Conditions Permitting! Hereford Canoe Hire also offers longer excursions – join the river upstream at Hoarwithy and canoe for 11 miles finishing at the Hope & Anchor for a well earned drink and food. To book or find out more, contact Hereford Canoe Hire on 01432 873020 or email info@herefordcanoehire.com.

As an alternative to Canoeing, we have also partnered with Paddle Boarding Adventures – The Wye is slow flowing by the pub and is an ideal spot to sample the delights of the river from a paddle board.
