5 easy cocktail recipes to make for your friends

Got friends coming over to your place? Fancy yourself as a cocktail connoisseur? We’ve collated five easy cocktail recipes to make for your friends that are sure to seriously impress them. Whether you’re after something bubbly, sweet, sour or fruity, we’ve got a cocktail to suit all palates.

Pornstar Martini

This is a fruity cocktail with a passion fruit garnish and a shot of Prosecco on the side – very glamorous!

Ingredients (to make 1 cocktail):

  • 50ml vodka
  • 15ml passion fruit liqueur (such as Passoã)
  • 30ml passion fruit puree
  • 15ml fresh lime juice
  • 15ml vanilla syrup
  • 60ml Prosecco
  • ½ passion fruit, to garnish

Method:

  1. Add all the ingredients except the prosecco and ½ passion fruit into a shaker with ice and shake vigorously until well chilled.
  2. Strain into a chilled martini glass.
  3. Garnish with the passion fruit.
  4. Serve with the Prosecco in a shot glass. Chink, chink!

Blackberry Bramble

This is a refreshing summery cocktail with a gin base and blackberry topping.

Ingredients (to make 4 cocktails):

  • ½ cup fresh blackberries
  • 100ml dry gin
  • 30ml maple syrup
  • 45ml fresh lemon juice
  • Soda water
  • 1 blackberry, to garnish

Method:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the blackberries with the gin, lemon juice and maple until broken up.
  2. Double strain with a fine mesh strainer to remove any seeds.
  3. Fill 4 rocks glasses with ice. Divide the mix between the glasses and top with soda water
  4. Garnish with a blackberry.

Mojito

This is a classic beach cocktail with a rum base and a sugary surprise at the bottom.

Ingredients (to make 1 cocktail):

  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • A small handful of mint leaves, plus an extra sprig to garnish
  • 50ml white rum
  • Soda water

Method:

  1. Muddle the lime juice, sugar and mint leaves, then pour into a glass and add ice.
  2. Pour over the rum while stirring with a long spoon. Top with soda water and garnish with mint. Cheers!

Negroni

Bitter and intense, this is a cocktail for those who mean business.

Ingredients (to make 1 cocktail):

  • 25ml gin
  • 25ml Campari
  • 25ml sweet vermouth
  • 1 slice of orange peel, to garnish

Method:

  1. Add the gin, Campari and sweet vermouth to a mixing glass filled with ice, and stir until chilled.
  2. Strain it into a rocks glass with one large ice cube.
  3. Garnish with the orange peel. Voila!

Whiskey sour

Citrusy and sour, this classic cocktail is great for slow sipping.

Ingredients (to make 1 cocktail)

  • 50ml bourbon whiskey
  • 15ml fresh lemon juice
  • 15 ml maple syrup
  • ½ orange wheel slice, to garnish

Method:

  1. Combine the bourbon, lemon juice and maple syrup in a cocktail shaker.
  2. Top the shaker with ice and shake vigorously until the outside is really cold to the touch – roughly 20 seconds.
  3. Strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. Garnish with the orange wheel. Enjoy!
